LEED AP+ V3 2009, NC, CI and LEED Green Associate Exam Course Information
Group course includes in-depth study of the Reference Guides, Credit Interpretation Ruling case study exercises, LEED On-Line, USGBC.org website, GBCI.org website and Greenexamprep.com. The class includes a case study of Ohio's first LEED Platinum project – the Fernald Preserve Visitors Center in Harrison, OH. Many of the tours include GBCI Final Review analysis for the project.
Individual Tutoring – Three day course that includes tours of all Cincinnati LEED projects open to the public on the first day. The second day will be at the Fernald Preserve Visitors Center where we will review all of their LEED documentation. The final day will be at the student's home, office or other site selection where we will prepare basic LEED documentation and strategy for that location.
These courses will use all three Reference Guides for v3 2009 NC. The class will also prepare you to take the two-hour, LEED Green Associate test. Class members will be eligible to join Lohre's LEED project team to meet the new LEED AP+ requirements. Call for class fees.

Who Should Come: Anyone studying to become a LEED Accredited Professional. The course uses the actual class location as well as all the regional LEED projects as examples. Through in-depth research into the Reference Guide’s resource sections, we pull out the visual illustrations and historical examples that help you learn. You will be able to experience first hand the guidelines and principals. Touring LEED projects is the best way to learn about the rating and credit achievement process. You will leave the course with an in-depth knowledge of the Green Buildings in the Cincinnati Region and have an understanding of what sustainability and environmental benefits can be achieved by Green Building techniques.
Focus: The focus will be on the LEED v3 2009 which includes NC, CI, CS and Schools.
Instructor: This training is led by Chuck Lohre, LEED AP ID+C and 2009 Board Member and PR/Media Chair of the Regional Cincinnati Chapter of the USGBC. Chuck has extensively toured and promoted many national and regional LEED projects. LEED Credit Checklists for many regional projects will be used for the class. These include all regional LEED Registered and Certified projects including: Fernald Preserve Visitor Center LEED Platinum, Neyer Properties’ Keystone Parke LEED CS Silver and registered CI, Schott Education Center Cincinnati Zoo LEED NC Silver, Fire Station No. 9 LEED NC Certified, Pleasant Ridge School LEED NC Certified and Cincinnati Magazine Design Home, Great Traditions Builder, LEED Residential Gold, the two Northside LEED Silver homes and more everyday.
Q: Should I register for this training?
A: This training is intended for anyone who wants assistance preparing for the LEED Accredited Professional (AP) exam, especially those without an architectural or engineering background. It will provide an interactive method to learning the material that is required to pass the LEED AP exam. The LEED AP exam is primarily focused on the LEED Rating System. While it does cover general green building principles through the lens of LEED, much of the exam is about learning the LEED credits, documentation process and other LEED-specific knowledge.
Q: Will I need to do anything besides participate in the training to pass the LEED AP exam?
A: Study time outside class is essential. How much will depend on the individual. The training will provide guidance and structure, tips and techniques, sample questions and homework exercises to help you prepare. It will also be necessary to study the entire LEED Reference Guide because that is the primary material tested on the exam. The USGBC and GCBI web sites and LEED On-Line are also covered.
Q: Do I need to purchase the LEED-NC Reference Guide or any other track reference guide you are studying for to participate in the training?
A: Yes. We do not sell the LEED Reference Guides but you can purchase them from the US Green Building Council at www.usgbc.org, Ebay, Amazon or other.
Q: After participating in the training, when should I take the LEED AP exam?
A: You should allow sufficient time after the last session to review the material and prepare for the LEED AP exam. It is recommended you take the test within two weeks after finishing the class depending on your familiarity with LEED, your test-taking skills, and the amount of time you spend studying between classes.

"The new thirty-eight thousand square foot, three-story Education Center houses the Zoo's Education and Nocturnal Adventures overnight program, Frischs' Animal Outreach program, a greenhouse that contains both a rain-forest exhibit and a hands-on classroom; and a theater / multi-use room that will be used for lectures, large workshops and fund-raising events. Standard high school classrooms and a biology lab are provided for the fifty students attending The Zoo Academy - a collaboration between the Zoo and Cincinnati Public Schools that is now in its twenty-ninth year.
Ten studio classrooms face onto, and are entered from, a central two-story greenhouse "hub" in the form of a truncated-cone. The hub contains a "Discovery Forest" exhibit which features live Central and South American plants and animals, a waterfall, fishponds and a "Shaman's Hut".

Its name is shortened for Center for Academic and Research Excellence (CARE) and also is named in honor of Edith Crawley, a graduate of the university and its law school who bequested funding for medical scholarship and research. The building contains laboratories and educational, administrative and meeting space, and features a nine-story glass atrium connecting it with the Medical Sciences Building (MSB), the largest biomedical building in the state. "Van Wormer Hall and Teachers College/Dyer Hall are both existing buildings of historic importance on the University of Cincinnati campus. A major objective of the LEED rating process promoting sustainable and high-performance design is the efficient reuse of existing building stock. In the complete rehabilitation of these campus buildings additional usable space has been developed, mechanical system efficiency improved through commissioning (fine tuning) equipment which is reduced in size due to improvements in the building envelope: insulation, glazing, roofing, daylight control (to reduce lighting load and other mechanical load requirements). Occupant comfort and performance are improved due to improvements in indoor environmental quality through air filtration, more individual controllability of systems and reduction in voc emitting materials. Resource consumption is reduced through reuse of buildings with minimal increase in footprint, reduction in construction and demolition waste, increase in recycled content of materials and use of locally harvested and manufactured materials."
"UC 8) Van Wormer Renovation (LEED EB - Pilot Program)
The Van Wormer Library renovation, the first major work on the building since 1930, will include updating the structure's mechanical, plumbing, electricity, phone data, technology and other functions in order to meet building codes and future use. The exterior will be restored and the current roof will be replaced with a glass dome. The Dayton architectural and engineering firm of Lorenz + Williams Incorporated will head the restoration. The restored library will house UC's Provost Office as well as the university's Office for Research and Advanced Studies."
